Our 2021 Trainee's Take Flight!

Each year we welcome a group of fresh-faced fledging's as part of our Traineeship Program.

It is such a pleasure to watch as these bright young things, usually in their first year out of high school, immerse themselves into a professional environment and quickly become integral parts of our nest. Our trainees are a part of the family during their year at the nest, and come out the other side with a Certificate III in Business Admin and valuable insights on general business practices. It goes without saying, that although our focus is to share as much knowledge and experience with our trainees as possible - we learn an awful lot from them in return!

2021 was another year filled with the unexpected, and we heavily relied on our trainee's to help us navigate these challenges - and boy did they rise to the occasion! It's safe to say we really don't know where we'd be without this fabulous little flock.

Watching our trainees learn and grow has been an absolute pleasure, and although we wish them all the best and can't wait to see what they will achieve - we will be very sad to see them go!

Meet Our 2022 Trainees

Anna - Marketing Trainee

What do you love most about birdsnest?

It's a great place to work, everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and the workplace culture is very encouraging and you never feel out of place.

What did you love most about your role?

There's plenty of variety, between content prepping, social monitoring, and scheduling, so it never gets boring. The creative side of content filming and some of the crazy ideas we have, certainly bring plenty of fun and laughs, and it's great being able to put in your input and see how it all comes together.

What was your most memorable moment at birdsnest?

Throughout the year, we've made some pretty crazy videos, like our "Frock Friday" video or our "Life In Lockdown" video, which I'm sure we found way funnier than any of our customers, but they certainly were memorable! Honourable mention to the bakeoffs!

What was your biggest lesson of 2021?

Always expect the unexpected! Even though the year didn't quite go how we planned, having a positive mindset, and just going with the flow, makes all the difference.

What's your advice to 2022 trainees?

Bring an open mind every day and don't be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things, because there are plenty of great opportunities, so you just have to take them!

Alanah - Design Trainee

What do you love most about birdsnest?

I loved being able to work across a range of teams within the nest and being able to meet such wonderful people. Making friends that have guided me through my traineeship and that will go beyond my year here.

What did you love most about your role?

I seriously loved working with each individual brand manager and their brand. I loved seeing their collection come to life within the nest and then on shoot!

What was your most memorable moment at birdsnest?

My most memorable moment at the nest was the SS21 Naturals shoot. The fire alarm in the hotel was set off in the early hours of the morning causing us to evacuate and run late for the sunrise, on the shoot we were completely rained out and the whole shoot was just hilarious. Somehow it all worked out and the shoot still looked awesome.

What was your biggest lesson of 2021?

That you are so much stronger and can handle a lot more than you thought.

What's your advice to 2022 trainees?

Enjoy each moment and take each opportunity offered to you. There are so many amazing people within the nest that have so much to offer, so take the time to get to know them.

Love, the birdsnest girls x
